FIRST INTERVIEW | BAYLEY LIU

New signing Bayley Liu insists his first task as a Bull is to earn the respect of the coaching staff and his team-mates – having put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal earlier today.

The towering back row forward, who hails from New Zealand, has featured for West Wales Raiders, Dewsbury Rams and Sheffield Eagles since arriving in the UK three years ago.

The 28-year-old made 58 appearances in the Red and Gold of Sheffield, scoring 20 tries.

And now as he prepares to train in the red, amber and black for the first time, he has spoken of his excitement at joining the “ambitious” Bulls.

“When I first came to the UK it was a club you just knew you wanted to be at, so to be able to sign a deal here I am really excited. I have good friends who have come over and played for Bradford so yeah I am excited to be here.

“Bradford is a club that is ambitious, that wants to go to Super League and I want to be a part of that. When I played for Sheffield I always hated playing against Bradford as it was a really tough game, so it is good to be on the other side now!

“I remember a game at Sheffield in 2023 against Bradford, I made a mistake which led to a try and the crowd were right on top of me so it will be good being on the opposite side now! From what some of my friends at the club, Jorge Taufua and Logan Bayliss have said, is that they are very welcoming and love all the boys so I am looking forward to it.

“As a player you always want to start or be in the team but first and foremost I need to earn my coaches and teammates respect. I am a back rower but I will play anywhere, you always want to be playing so that’s what I want to be doing.”
